Falmouth EDIC Moves Forward With OpenCape Fiber Optic Network
The Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation is moving ahead with its OpenCape project that will bring fiber optic networks to Main Street businesses. The project aims to provide business owners with faster Internet connections than basic cable lines and ensure fewer outages.
OpenCape is the nonprofit that owns and oversees the regional fiber optic network that already serves 19 Falmouth municipal buildings and connects towns throughout the Cape.
The extension of service down Main Street will connect to businesses using telephone poles. OpenCape has been in contact with Verizon and Eversource, the owners of the telephone poles on Main Street, to facilitate the additional lines. To read more of this article click here.
