Falmouth is Creating & Developing Economic Opportunities

Shining Sea Bikeway Closing Temporarily October 15, 2024

WHERE
The bikeway will close between Ter Heun and Locust Street. There will be no access to the path at all in this zone for the duration of construction.

WHEN
The path will close Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Our goal is to reopen the bikeway no later than March 2025, but this timeline is subject to change. Unforeseen circumstances, like weather, can alter construction schedules significantly.

 
 

The Falmouth EDIC is Seeking a Board Member to Join Our Board of Directors

The Falmouth Economic Development & Industrial Corporation (EDIC) has two openings for new members on its Board of Directors. The Falmouth EDIC is a quasi-public 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to attract, advocate and support economic vitality and seek to constantly improve the business climate in Falmouth. The EDIC operates important community assets in Falmouth including the Falmouth Station and Falmouth Landfill Solar Array.

The EDIC Board values diversity and seeks qualified candidates with general business experience in Falmouth. We are seeking enthusiastic and qualified people who either live or own a business in Falmouth with experience in the following areas: local small business, affordable or low incoming housing, and real estate. A goal of the EDIC Board is to achieve diverse composition of board member backgrounds, expertise, and perspectives. Toward this end, the Falmouth EDIC sincerely encourages persons of diverse race, gender, religion, age, to consider applying.

Citizen’s Energy’s Joe-4-Sun Electricity Savings Program is currently accepting applications from qualified low-medium income households. If you live within the area of the map you could reduce your electricity bill.

Time to Act

The Affortable Housing Committee works to identify our workforce housing needs, to reduce the out-migration of our younger residents and to minimize the displacement of our elderly on fixed incomes.

Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) recently launched Massachusetts Statewide Digital Equity Survey to better understand the needs of Massachusetts residents when it comes to internet access and digital equity. 

This important survey will help inform the Commonwealth’s investment of historic funding to provide improved connectivity for all residents of Massachusetts, increasing access to education, healthcare, civic engagement, economic, and other opportunities. We would like to make sure your voice is heard and that the Commonwealth’s plans reflect the unique needs in our communities.

Falmouth Station Master Plan
Development Study

MassDEV sponsored a study of the long-term development potential of the Falmouth Station site. VHB Consultants and Dream Collaborative completed this study. Though further work and community collaboration will be done before deciding on any development plans, options for consideration were presented as a result of the study.
