Falmouth Station Master Plan Study
Prior to commencing with the Falmouth Station property development study, the Falmouth EDIC and the consultant team held a community stakeholder meeting on October 20th, 2021 to solicit input from various Town agencies, transportation organizations and the general public. This input was collected and informed the initial round of planning work.
Community Development Block Grant
he Town of Falmouth, working in partnership with the Falmouth EDIC, received $173,840 in grant funding from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
High Speed Fiber Optic Network Study
The Falmouth Economic Development and Industrial Corporation (EDIC) and The Falmouth Community Network Committee (Network Committee) believe that a robust broadband infrastructure is critical to the Town of Falmouth’s economic growth. In 2019, the Network Committee approached the EDIC with the idea of doing a first ever study of Falmouth’s broadband infrastructure. The EDIC agreed and retained CCG to analyze Falmouth’s broadband infrastructure and make recommendations regarding the viability of a new, alternative, broadband network that would address gaps in the current system and provide capacity for future growth.
Marine Renewal Energy Collaborative
The Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo) is a nonprofit corporation that educates and involves all stakeholders (Academic, industry, governmental/regulatory, and public interest groups) to promote the sustainable development of renewable energy in New England ocean waters. In 2021 the Falmouth EDIC successfully applied to the Seaport Economic Council for grant funding in the amount of $197,063 in sponsorship and on behalf of the Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative of New England, Inc. (MRECo). The grant funding was provided by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) and was used to establish the Massachusetts Ocean Sensor Testbed (MOST) located on the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, MA.
704 Main Street
The Falmouth EDIC assisted the Town and the Falmouth Housing Authority with it’s first affordable housing project by acquiring the property for the development of 704 Main Street. This beautiful mixed-use retail and affordable housing development contains 1 & 2 bedroom units as well as commercial businesses located on the ground floor. This project proved to be vital to the development and growth of the East Main Street neighborhood of downtown Falmouth.
Raymond Business Park
In the fall of 2003, the Falmouth EDIC invested $3,000,000 to acquire twenty acres (including a 10,000 square foot building) in North Falmouth. The EDIC subdivided the aforementioned site, now known as Raymond Business Park, into ten lots and constructed a system of interior roadways and utilities. The EDIC acquired the site because it is one of the last Light-Industrial zoned properties in Falmouth. Also, a consideration was that the owner of Benthos Corporation needed capital to restructure to avoid moving its operation or shutting its doors.
